Study With Joe

DISCLAIMER:

Due to my intense out-of-the-area gig schedule and DMA work, I am generally not accepting new students.

Curious?

What To Expect

The essence of the trumpet path is learning to internally hear the desired sound, and allow the natural intelligence of the body to discover how the sound is produced externally.

In Practice

Trumpet is an instrument that requires patience as it relies upon the subtle execution of breath and fine motor functions.

We will work out of various method books Joe has curated over his 30 years of study to deepen our understanding of fundamentals.

Simple songs and duets form the foundation of musical exploration and expression.

Breath practices, ear training, technical exercises, and music of seemingly endless complexities create a challenging and rewarding discipline that can last a lifetime.

Philosophy

Who, Why?

The Reason to Study

So much more is discovered in the study of music than how to play what note and when.

Who Should Study?

Everyone.

Why do We Study?

For Joy…

…and for Fun, Creative Expression, Breath, Meditation, Patience, Self-Confidence, Body Awareness, Self-Love, Self-Discipline, Mental Awareness, Posture, Mind-Body Connection, Emotional Transformation…

Lesson Policies

The Nuts And Bolts

Joe’s Expectations for his Students

  • First and foremost, all of Joe’s students make a commitment to practicing at least 30 minutes a day, six days a week. When it comes to learning almost anything, 30 minutes a day is far better than three hours once a week.

  • Students arrive five minutes before their lesson time, and pack up promptly once their lesson is finished.

  • All students will be asked to purchase a manuscript notebook.

  • Students must bring all of their necessary items to each lesson (e.g. instrument, music, manuscript notebook, and pencil).
